So Darn Busy Tis' New Year!

I am so sorry if my entries are not as frequent as before. I'd love to put more but I found myself to be swamped with work and feeling rather tired at most times.

Yep, I try to work harder this year, by (actually) doing my paper-works and improve filing (two banes of my working life). Some colleagues mentioned that they never seen me so BUSY before. Shows glaringly that I took my work too easy these past few years. Being a good teacher is REALLY hard work.

No, I do not wish to be a Principal.
Nor a district education officer.
Not interested in any administrative posts either.

I want to be a simple teacher till the day I retire. Somebody said I have no vision. But for me, the glory resides in the actual battlefield (classroom), not some distant office where they ask people to follow some stupid regulations.

Here's to the great teachers of the nation. :)

Having Fun With BFF

When I heard first the term 'BFF' from Paris Hilton and her sidekick Nicole Ritchie (The Simple Life) a long time ago, my first thought was; Boy friend fever? What's this?

And I was much wiser after referring to some friends who knew the lingo (who has more time to watch those trash programmes on the tv than me). BEST FRIEND FOREVER. Do I have some of those? Once upon a time, yes. For now... very few.

My definition of a BFF is somebody who;
1. make jokes to entertain me and knows when to stop when I am no longer amused.
2. would lend me money and reminds me to pay back much MUCH later.
3. would send me to work and pick me up after school when my car is feeling poorly.
4. is ready at anytime to go out whenever I wanna go out for a movie.
5. is always there whenever I wanna bitch about anyone or anything.
6. would keep my darkest secrets on the pain of having his/her heart torn out.
7. would divulge a bit of delicious secrets from other people's life.
8. is always happy to go out for a meal, even in the middle of the night.
9. would travel a long distance just to meet.
10. is happy just to see me.

I have very few friends and would like to have more. But I am too tired to cater for fools who said they wanna be friends, but ended up lost, drifted away soon after.

The Mysterious Ferret of Doom

This is my ferret.
His name is Disco.
He got fatter each day.
I gave him less food than normal.
Yet he still grew bigger.
Why?
I don't even try to understand.
Maybe he absorb nutrition from the air.
Unlikely.
But I love him still :)

.... Robots Need More Space....

I emptied my bookcases this evening and threw the books into a huge plastic bag (will deal with them later). And in their place, I put my Gundams, Armoured Core and Patlabor robots. Megatron stuck up like a sore thumb, and I was too tired to make 'poses' for these guys. I have more Transformers toys and a few stolen Gundams still undisplayed... We need more space.

My favourite Gundam, the Shin Musha. So red and so bloody expensive. My mom dumped him into a box unceremoniously while I was away. It took some time to put him back together. I am too lazy to stick all the decals on the robots, ok?

Blue Bear Sadness Ultima :(

It was beautiful knowing you
I was amorously smitten
Your eagerness for me
The passion within

Love is not forever
Though many would say nay
It sometimes ends with a word
Or worse, in silence

Heaven was your smile
Your hugs and kisses
Alas it was not meant to be
Etched within me...

Argumentative Me

I just got into an argument with a friend in the phone just 10 minutes ago. He is somebody who really loves to find irregularities in conversations, meaning, he likes to catch people lying. What so vexing was, he ALWAYS do this, no matter how small the matter would be.

I told him the news that my cousin's ill mother is now at the hospital after a fall. AND he contradicted me by mentioning that I never told him that the mother was ill. THAT flared me up! Do you have to know everything? Do I have to remember everything I told you before?

So I hung up the phone. This was better than verbal attacks that I would regret soon.

Now, here am I typing all this up to vent my anger. I enjoy an argument or two once in a while, to make the blood pumping and hone my intellect - to win. But lately, as I am now older, the confrontations are not as savoury as before. Maybe the quality of my competitors has gone down the drain, or maybe I realized now that sometimes walking away is better than creating storms.

..... I think I'm gonna take a nap. :(

Arghhhh!

Feeling a bit down with no apparent reason.

Thinking happy thoughts.... happy thoughts.... inner peace.... inner peace...

Well, I am better of killing people in my video games. More fun that way.

Meditation sucks.

First Day in School 2010

I love work, being a teacher. I like pointing to the masses the right way at the crossroads of Life. Working with people is difficult, but if you have the talent for it, could be a very satisfying job.

Well, I am a Form 1 Teacher (13 years olds). And the Power Up Above (office) gave me the 'C' class (again), the only indigenous class. I am ok, I am not complaining. Life is good, at first.

And then, I went to Form 5 MPV (17 yrs old) for my first ever CIVIC class and I dreaded my next classes with these young people. 20% of the student were difficult to control, and you might say, oh that's only a few.... but a drop of ink DOES make an entire glass of water murky. Enough said.

To remedy this... I might have to bring my video camera to record EVERY classroom sessions with them. I do play dirty. And I do collect evidence of any misconduct in class. Starting next week.

The picture above is of my colleague, in charge of Discipline, talking about the school regulations and proper conduct to the Form 1. She pulled out some boys to show what's-not; long hair, spiky hair, belt buckles etc. I had to scream twice this morning to make students obey.

I am now officially a Prefect Teacher. And VE HAVE VAYS TO MAKE ZEM VORK WIT UZ!

But still the unofficial school photographer. Oh well.

The Shiny Pen For 2010

Look at the SHINY pen! (I feel like a magpie).
I needed something to fill this pseudo-hollow in me... (or in short; I needed something to make me happy) this new year. So I went window shopping at Parkson's (opposite the one shown below) with a friend.

Visited the Toys Department (always the first stop for me) but nothing interesting or new on the shelves (at least for a 31 year old man-child). Next stop; Stationery Department, which is just next to the Toys.

Oh wow! They got a whole slew of new fountain pens! On sale, too. But nobody was at the counter.

As I oogled at the latest patterns of writing masterpieces, my friend nudged and told me the nearest security guard was giving us the eye. I must admit that we didn't dress to impress yesterday. My clothes... were really faded, from frequent wear, as I rarely go shopping for new shirts. Well, it's not like I want to break the glass and steal stuff.

"YOU! Come here." I pointed to the sales-help who was busy unwrapping boxes, reasonably close to the said interested guard. I pointed to three fountain pens; a Lamy, a Cross and a Parker. I love Sheaffer's, but I already got a good fine-tipped one at home.

It took me a quarter of an hour to choose among the three. I've already stolen a Lamy a long time ago... and Lamy makes good PLASTIC fountain pens. The Cross, unfortunately does not come in medium or fine tips. I chose the Parker; which was SO SHINY!!!

"Let me test this pen."
The boy obediently pushed a Parker's blue inkwell towards me.
I pumped some ink into the pen and gave it a go. Not bad.
"Ok, I'll have this."

And then the GOLDEN FEW SECONDS of the boy's life began...
"Do you know how to fill the ink, sir?"

I looked at the boy. I looked at the pen in his hands.
"Wow. You must be really dumb to be stuck working here... Didn't you just witness me putting ink into that pen from that inkwell?" I pointed to the guilty bottle of ink.

The boy blushed red.
My friend behind me laughed.
The security guard who was hovering behind us immediately took off somewhere else.

"And if you are still paying attention, I want a bottle of black Sheaffer ink. From the glass counter, not from under the cabinet. Parker makes good pen, but lousy inks."

:) It is nice to make people FEEL your NEW YEAR SPIRIT (vicious and reprimanding).

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!!
