I hate sardines, canned that is. But today, while lazing away on my bed, I thought of doing something radical for the next meal, which may include canned sardines.
I went to the weekly produce market and bought some tomatoes, bird eye chillies and a couple loaves of bread. But of the canned sardines.... well, they don't have the size that I wanted - which is LARGE. So I tossed the tiny cans aside and picked up a large can of mackerel in tomato puree instead.
Arrived home 20 minutes later and started to slice up the tomatoes. And then I tossed a tomato, onion, garlic, 6-7 chillies, two dollops of mayonnaise, the whole can of mackerel and some salt into the blender.... And blended away till all was really smooth and surprisingly, PINK.
So, I put some sliced tomatoes on a bread and spread my new-found blended paste on it, and gave it a bite.... Cool. It was rather good. So I prepared a LOT of sandwiches (by finishing two loaves) and put them all in a plastic container. This I stored in the refrigerator for later consumption.
That's how dinner, and tomorrow's breakfast and lunch (maybe dinner too) is done :)
p.s. - I don't have to take the pictures of said sandwiches. It looks like any other regular sandwiches, minus the garnish and fancy trappings.
a gathering, a bovine, a chill dude, a flush for Friday

I went out for a brisk little run in the crisp black Friday morning air
today. Apparently there was a goose convention going on at one of the local
high ...

Sounds delish! I'd eat that up in a hot second. Odd that it was pink I think.
Cheers,
SLC
SLC; I wonder if I can only live on sandwiches alone... :)
You take good care of yourself. That sounds healthy and tasty. And like you say, you have prepared several meals at one time. Smart too.
i love tuna!!!
Okay, here's the thing.
You can't expect people to do nothing after you've just described such a scrumptious sandwich.
So you're gonna have to make me some when I come over to Melaka.
And what is with the Sushi King background music?
Sounds rather good! Might try that myself!
TechnoBabe; I just finished my last sandwich I prepared last Saturday.
I might make more soon. But this time, maybe with chicken :P
maximus; I don't even like tuna :P
Aizan; Let's hope Ibu Nani let us use her house as an experimental kitchen :)
Hoi, this is ENYA!! What's this with Sushi King background music?!!
Rock Chef; If you get poisoned, do tell, so I can delete the entry :)
tuna is good too ma...
and i love to flood my tuna with mayo thus, i always ask for more mayo. :)
More mayo? MOre FAT?!!
If theres one thing you and I have in common....is the fondness for the good stuff.
I adore good food, and I hate the way some people seem so utterly indifferent to cooking.
In that respect I have a very high regard for the French, for whom good dining is like a religion.
The way they scrutinize and carefully select each ingredient.
Its delight to just watch them cook!!
Oh, you really do a lot of cooking, and for the best, experimenting! This vacation me too am trying to get my hands on 'experimental cooking' :). But it definitely is better when you live on your own.
Vyazz; Love to see cooking shows in the tv too. French cooking rocks, but sometimes it is too fussy in my opinion.
I love Chinese food the best :)
et; Cooking for yourself is a good experience. For once, if it was bad, you don't have to blame anyone but yourself :)
