East Coast West Coast

I was with a friend at the beach this evening, waiting for the sun to set to break fast (yes, it is the Islamic fasting month already, Ramadan). As we watch the orange orb falling slowly amidst the clouds near the horizon, he asked me;
"Why I never see the sun sets in Mersing?" Mersing is his hometown.

I raised my eyebrows.
"You didn't pay enough attention to your Geography teacher in school, did you?"
"And what's Geography got to do with this?" his nostrils flared.
"We are at the beach of Malacca, in the West. Mersing is on the OTHER side, in the East. The sun rises in the east. Japan is in the east, so it was also known as 'The Land of The Rising Sun'. Remember this lesson."
"Yes, TEACHER."

It is nice to make things right (in people's head) :)
The sun sets at the Straits of Malacca. Gorgeous.
My friend taking the picture of the setting sun. His plastic bag filled with cold lychee drink was hung at a nail by the wooden post.
The beach was deserted at dusk. Oh well, it is quieter this way. And look at my dusty and dirty car!

Good way to help him remember the sun rising in the east. And he probably never thought of where he lives in the east. Nice photos and colors in the sky. I cannot see that your car is dirty though.

Tres beau! You are fortunate to live somewhere with a beautiful sunset over the sea. Not that I'm complaining, it's beautiful in India. But, damn, that image is breathtaking!

TechnoBabe; The car IS very dusty and dirty. The colour disguised the dirt anyway :)

Casey Freeland; You do know lychee fruits right? Try to get them in juices, ice cold.

And that would be heaven in a glass :P

Aizan; Ai, you and your friends should do better, living in a big city. Or you break fast at home only?

Eveline; It was beautiful, yes. But there weren't a lot of people by the beach to appreciate it. I am sure India's sunsets are breath taking too. :)

No, I've no idea what that means. :)

Casey; It does not mean anything, the beverage comes from the lychee fruit. It was commonly imported mostly from China. You can find canned lychee in most supermarket.

Not in California.

Casey; Oh... but it can't be. Lychees should be enjoyed the world over!

Choco; I am sure Indian beaches and sunsets are beautiful too :)

brocasarea; I happen to be not very typical kind of guy :)

Maybe we call it something else?

Casey; Lychee is still lychee all over the world. It is a red fruit with white flesh. My Chinese friend say you might find canned lychee in Asian food stores. :) Google it up.

Cool. Maybe I'll check it out.
