Of Blue Skies and AIDS

My Indian blogger friend, et said he was so envious of the blue sky at the beach, even nearing dark in the previous post. So to spite him further :) , and to amuse the rest of you, I am presenting some blue sky pictures I took in school. These are taken with my Sony DSC-H3 digital camera (loving it!). The pictures in the previous post were taken with my mobile phone's camera, LG-Cookie. So they are not as sharp and colourful as my Sony's.
This is near the entry of my school. I snapped this pic first when I saw the sky was exceptionally cloudless and blue. Beyond is the school field.
Thirty degrees to the left of the first pic. Please notice that I prefer to take pics without anybody in them. Shots with people should be full of people.
And this is the elevated platform / rostrum where the teachers sit on chairs for the morning assembly. The school buildings are orange in colour. This picture would be perfect for the front page of this year's school magazine, but I decided not to front this idea. Not like they are paying for my services as the school photographer anyway :P

On a darker note; Somebody I knew admitted in his blog that he is now HIV positive. He had suffered extreme pressure from his peer - the vicious gossips, the patronizing look etc and he had enough. So he tells everybody that yes, he got AIDS and please stop hurting him further. His partner left him a couple of months back, he lost his job and the future is interestingly bleak for this fellow.

I DID advice him not to sleep around like a common slut, but you all guessed pretty well that he ignored my well meaning intention. Now, all I can do, all we can do is watch him dying from afar. Encouraging words, consolation and hugs are not going to help where he's heading.

I did try to help, and I so despise people who asked for help when we said NO in the first place.

What would you do?

What's done is done. You don't have to rub it in. Just give him support and be there for him. I'm guessing it would get lonely being someone with HIV especially in our unforgiving society.

Sometimes I hate Malaysia. Because we think we're so f*cking holy. When the truth of the matter is we're as f*cked up as everyone else.

AIDS freaks me out. I just am terrified by the entire concept. I have to work at not letting it consume me. Once it's in my head, though, it's hard to push it out again. And I guess that's how most people view the disease too.

I hope you can get past this and help your friend work out his issues b'cos it'd be nice if he had a good system of support in his life right now.

Have you thought of asking the school if they would want this photo? I'm sure they would. There, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So you'd have that goin' for you, which is nice. :P

Looks a little like the skies here in Nebraska, although it's hard to catch through a lens what the eye sees, no?

As a spiritual being on a human journey (as I think we all are), everything happens for a reason.

Aizan; You know I am not a good guy myself, but I did warned him several times not to make himself open to the risk. I hate it so much when my well meaning intention fell on deaf ears. And as a teacher, I am so sorry, but I cannot be seen near / with a HIV+ person.
It would sent very bad vibes to students :(

Eveline; AIDS will not come for us, unless we are asking for it. And that's what the guy did, by ignoring it all for the sake of fun.

I did many shoots for people and my schools. And I was not paid a single cent. I was not bothered much, but I hated it when someone else took the credit.

So I post them here for you all to see :)

James; Sometimes I hate it when I forgot to bring my camera during a spectacular event / view.
One famous photographer said that luck had a lot to do with great photography. And I think he's very right :)

The reason it happened to him was he ignored the warnings.

The thing about advice is the second we give it, we give it up, it is no longer ours, we no longer own it. If someone asks me for advice and then they don't take my advice, it is not mine so I can look at their decision from afar, objectively. I can still care about the person but I am grateful that I am not in charge. Someone much bigger and stronger than I am is in charge of it all. I really like it when you post pictures of your school It looks like a lovely campus.

All of us have no shortage of regret or times we did it wrong. Most of us do not have to face a consequence as severe as your friend is facing for our wrong doings. What if we got Aids from gossiping, do you think that would stop gossiping? Grace and forgiveness is in short supply in this world. I say spread a little around to make up for the many wrongs we see each and every day and be thankful that your wrong doings have not resulted in such a devastating consequence.
That’s what I think….you asked.

Great pics. I'm with Aizan... I mean the first part. Just be there for them and do not judge.

Cheers,

Casey

TechnoBabe; I take it as a personal insult when I try to do something good, yet my effort was wasted on said people. (it's my nature)

And I have never seen it that way, about the advice not being ours anymore :) Something to think about.

Grayquill; :) I am open to all kind of opinion. It lets the mind grow. Maybe I'll extend some help / love / care his way if he repented and listen to advice.
I am a new-age teacher. If we see a lost cause (someone who do not wish to change), we have to leave it / him / her. Many others need our help. :P

Casey; I will try to be a NICER bad guy. Meaning; extra nice and extra care will be channeled his way. But if he refused... I have to back away. I do have my pride after all.
