Sex and the Banana Tree

Yesterday, before letting the students go home for the midyear school holiday, the Vice Principal of Students' Affair called me up to meet him.

One boy prefect had been caught in a shameful conduct with his girlfriend after school was out the day before. They were alone in a banana-tree grove, not very far away from school.

I do not wish to go to great details. You can IMAGINE what they were doing there. Nothing heavy, mind you. But OF COURSE they weren't doing their school assignments in those bushes.

Anyway, the VP told me that both of the students' parents had been called to be informed of this interesting development. He also mentioned that the boy will be stripped off every position he is holding, including being a prefect. Mr VP asked me to have a talk with the said boy, and make him change his way.

Can I perform this miracle? OH, YES I CAN.

That particular boy wasn't the best prefect I have in school. Shy and very quiet. He's quite handsome, in a dark way and looks VERY GOOD in my blue uniform for prefects. (Sometimes you should have men and women who looks good to promote the establishment). He's a walking advertisement for 'good dressing'.

I blame the slut he had for a girlfriend. The girl isn't bad looking but as someone who understand the bad qualities in other, I know she was the one who always pushed in their relationship. I've heard many reports from students regarding this shameless hussy, about parading her boyfriend and making-up publicly outside the school. As I was never a busybody, I let them do whatever they want unless it bothers me.

Now I am bothered. I lost a prefect.
Now it's my turn to END this beautiful, yet doomed love story.

I wonder why children are so impatient to grow up....
The girl had obviously destroyed her bf future in school.

new update - OH MY GOD!!! One trusty informer just told me that the slut REALLY had sex with the said boy before this. The new revelation will devastate A LOT MORE people. (10.43 pm)

My my my. Things have been getting steamy over there at your school. I want to know the result of your talk with the boy.

It takes two to tango. And I don't appreciate you calling women sluts. Kasar sangat bahasa tu.

brocasarea; It's not sad for me, just a bit disappointed with a future lost.

TechnoBabe; I am only able to meet the boy in another 2 weeks time. They are all off for their mid year holiday. But I will post the detail soon.

Aizan; I am not trying to degrade anyone here. You KNOW I am a feminist too. Yet you should meet this girl, the epitome of 'slut'. She creeps even me.

I don't know about you Shadow, but from maybe 14 on, I was way more of a slut than any girl I ever met.

The saddest part of this is they were doing what nature was urging them to do and they will both suffer for it. The boy by losing something he shouldn't lose and the girl by being tagged with an undeserved label. Very sad.

Wow.....school sure has changed since the last I saw it. But then again, since I was a complete dork in school I would have missed out on some of the happenings!!
Nevertheless, if I'm not mistaken, Malaysia, is a tad more conservative non???...correct me if I'm wrong, even in India, stuff like this, I mean high school affairs can cause humongous scandals!!!
Kids sure are growing up fast of late!!!!

I've also known of plenty such train wreck stories and the sexualization of these little kids makes me physically ill. i also wonder if these kids are being praised for reading, figuring out a difficult math problem or building a really cool fort, or if they are just being taught that getting 'there' first is all that matters. ugh.

Casey Freeland; Malaysia is a very conservative country. This case should not happen in our community. Yet of late, it is increasing exponentially throughout the country.

Believe me, the girl deserve that label.

Vyazz; We are conservative, yes. Having Islam as the national religion always make it so. This scandal is very bad for the community we live in.

I blame the media for this.

Eveline; Children everywhere deserve to be praised in the good things they do. Alas, I had taught this particular girl last year and she is one who will never embrace change.

Sometimes even teachers have to hold up the white flag.

"Slut"-Strong term don't ya think?

Some points that came into my mind as I was reading this.
1) The school could've thought of a lesser punishment for the boy. Stripping him of the prefect role translates into humiliation. Nothing positive about that. No?

2) Children behaving in a dysfunctional manner, could mean that something is not right somewhere else. May be the said girl has had a troubled childhood, maybe the real issue for her being a difficult "child" lies elsewhere.

3)Does your school provide sexual education? Are they counseling the children even otherwise?

4) Please don't brand children with such slang words. It deeply troubles me when teachers/parents/adults brand children like that. I was a model child. Good mannered, teachers pet, good in studies...It was 'easy' for them to praise me and my kind. But it took more of an effort to take someone not so easy under their fold...Think about it.

Choco; We come from different parts of the planets :)
1. What they did was CAPITAL offense. They SHOULD be expelled from school, but still, we are thinking of their future. Stripping off roles is the LEAST we can do. We are not ogres.
2. Now comes the blaming part... Who is at fault? Schools here made it a point to tell the parents about their troublesome child, before any major move is taken. This GIRL (as you never knew her) had been warned SEVERAL TIMES not to go ANYWHERE near the boy. And of course she wouldn't listen. Her parents did what they could (I will not mention what) but still... a bad seed grows into a bad tree. FYI her parents are normal and functional.
3. Sexual education IS integrated into the syllabus, believe it or not! And we got lessons in Moral, Civic and Religion education to emphasize the do and don't. So imagine the kind of GIRL who is impervious to the MIGHTY ONSLAUGHT of good teaching at school!
4. I am not a model child. I am a teacher. And it PAINS me to see nice children ruined by despicable individuals such as she. Never ASSUME we did nothing to prevent such thing to happen.

And we always think about it. (Of course we will never call the girl a slut in her face, but nice is nice, and she isn't).
