La la la lah 6

I listened to the radio since very young, because the tv programme only starts at 9.00 am (a long time ago) and I got nothing else to do at home. When I was in primary school, I preferred to listen to English-language stations because the songs were good and sometimes catchy. My mother and grandmother had no objections because they got another radio playing 'keronchong' in the kitchen. I hate 'keronchong' and thank goodness it is almost extinct.

The old songs were beautiful; and I listened to a variety of them, from disco to the early 50s soul music. Unfortunately I never knew most of the songs titles and this made downloading them a bit tricky. For now I've succeeded downloading a few song's from the Platters, Everly Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Boney M, Doris Day, Nat King Cole, the Carpenters etc.

Tell me about your favourite golden oldies.

p.s - now listening to 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes'

The oldest song for me that I remember from my own memory, is Stand by Me -Ben E King, other oldies songs come from my sister's, she is a good singer, I know Nat King Cole, the carpenters, Bee Gees and many more, from her.

When I was a kid my mom used to tune in to this radio station that plays oldies. I've always enjoyed the songs. Off my head I can't think of any song in particular that caught my fancy. I enjoyed all of it. The Beatles, The Platters, The Supremes.

And I also still have a thing for 70s disco music. I don't care what other people say. 70s disco/funk/dance music rocks!!

OMG i love the oldies. I grew up listening to all that 50's, 60's and onward. My mom and dad used to listen to them all the time.

Love Dean Martin (his is toooo charming for words), Elvis of course (my dad still sports a short sideburns aka Elvis!), Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzerald, Platters, Carpenters, Louis Armstrong, Perry Como...the list goes on and on. Btw, I really like Smoke gets in your eyes...:)

I do switch to all types of music though, new and old, but have a spot for the oldies but goodies, how corny right?
